The History of Distribution & Control Products, Inc. (DCPI)

Distribution & Control Products, Inc. (DCPI) was incorporated on August 2, 1993. It first held office at Suite 208, EGI Homes 3, Medina corner Hoover Street, Makati City.

Its incorporators, with their cumulative experiences in the electrical industry, have envisioned DCPI to become the most reliable distributor of electrical products in the Philippines. Its focus shall be on the molded case circuit breaker line, subsequently moving towards the automation, monitoring and control products for electrical distribution systems.

In the early 90’s, the Philippines being a predominantly American market for National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and Underwriters Laboratories (U/L) products; which was then dominated by the leading brands—General Electric and Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer, DCPI started its business by directly importing Square D circuit breakers from the USA. DCPI came to satisfy its customers of an alternative high quality electrical product other than what was currently available ex-stock in the Philippines.

DCPI steadily grew its business supplying Square D circuit breakers for four (4) years, until in mid 90’s that Square D Company was bought by the French company—Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric eventually established an office in the Philippines in December 1996 and began direct importation of Square D circuit breakers under its name. Schneider Electric Philippines subsequently appointed local distributors including DCPI to distribute the USA brands of Square D Company, and the European brands Telemecanique and Merlin Gerin.

As a Schneider Electric distributor, DCPI made available to its customers a complete line of industrial control, power distribution and systems equipment. These products include:

  • Square D molded case circuit breakers, motor controls, busway systems, switchboards, distribution and panels, panel boards, etc.
  • Telemecanique motor controls, contactors, overload relays, variable speed drives, soft-start starters, pilot devices, etc.

Local stocks were initially maintained in its main office in Makati until it expanded into three warehouse locations: in Makati, in Pateros, Metro Manila and in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

In November 2000, DCPI moved from its Makati office to No. 74 P. Cruz Street, San Jose, Mandaluyong City. In this new address DCPI consolidated its satellite warehouses in one location at its main office.

In 2007, DCPI was appointed as an authorized distributor of 3M Philippines for electrical products; which includes electrical tapes termination kits, splicing kits, terminal lugs and connectors, electrical construction materials and consumables among others makes them available of the shelf.

In July 2010, 3M Philippines tapped the growing distribution network of DCPI and included in its products portfolio the 3M Structured Cabling and Telecommunication products.

In October 2012, DCPI was appointed as an authorized distributor of Emerson Network Power for its Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) products. Emerson Network Power saw the presence of DCPI in its target market of electrical contractors and system integrators mostly catering to the BPO and Data Center companies.
