A leaky undercount sink can be frustrating. The faucet drips and water pools around the base of the sink every time you turn on the water. These are easy to repair if you know how to fix a leaking kitchen sink, so don't call a plumber! Remove the Faucet to access the drain assembly, first remove the hot and cold water hoses from underneath the sink. You may have to unscrew them by turning them counterclockwise with your hand or with an adjustable wrench. Then lift out the faucet handles by pulling outward on their stems; set these aside in a safe place so they won't get lost. If there is also a sprayer attached to this faucet, remove it by pulling up with your hand or with pliers. Then, connect a garden hose to the "hose bib" opening under the sink so you can flush out any water that is left in the lines after turning off the faucet at its knob or handle. Remove the Drain Assembly Next, remove two screws on either side of the drain assembly next to where it connects to the bottom of the sink; these screws are visible when you remove the faucet (see Resources below). Lift out this base assembly and set it aside; again, remember where you put it so you don't lose track of its parts. The hose connecting it to an upper P-trap may be plastic or metal. Undo this clamp and detach it, together with the drain stopper. Before you remove the trap and drain assembly from under the sink, attach your garden hose to its outlet valve; this way, water will continue to rush out as you're removing it rather than flooding the area around your kitchen sink or floor which is irritating for everyone in the home.
